Amir had taken a quick look around to see if anything else had changed other than the twenty-odd bikes that were now taking up almost all the floor space. He couldn’t see anything, so he put the holdall down and got to work. Removing three plastic bottles that he had filled with petrol earlier, he carefully removed the lids and poured the petrol over the motorbikes, making sure that plenty of the flammable liquid was spread liberally over the warehouse floor. Moving upstairs, he took out a glass bottle from the holdall, also filled with petrol. He removed the lid and placed a wad of cloth into the neck of the bottle. He moved towards the window and had one last look around before lighting the cloth with a lighter. When he was happy with the flame, he nonchalantly threw the bottle over the side of the mezzanine to the floor below, where the bottle shattered and helped spread the flame from the wad to the floor and then to the bikes.

As the flames started licking at the bikes, Amir was climbing down the drainpipe and was quickly on the other side of the hedgerow, where he was met by Kendra. He gave a quick thumbs-up and they moved quickly towards the road. Darren and Charmaine met them and they made a call to Jimmy and Izzy, who they rendezvoused with in a side road, away from prying eyes.

By the time the first bike’s fuel tank exploded, setting off the fire alarm, they were half a mile away. By the time they got back to the gym, the entire floor of the warehouse was on fire. By the time the fire brigade arrived, there was nothing left of the bikes but charred wrecks.

Andy showed Kendra and Trevor the aftermath on the camera feeds, showing two of the mechanics with their hands on their heads as the fire brigade put out the fire.

‘Hawk is gonna take my message pretty seriously now, right?’ Trevor said.
